I've been with my husband and life partner for 20 years. We met on the Path, have travelled the Path together, have a beautiful 15-year old daughter who's on the Path, have a business together, cuddle in bed every night together...this relationship is the highlight, joy, and foundation of my life.

One of the keys to this historical transition point we're all in is "Dreaming the Dream" of the "New Story" of the "New Earth". 

Many visionary thinkers and activists believe it's not a matter of fixing what's broken about our planetary systems. Rather, it's inventing, creating, something totally new. Something that's never existed before, in all of recorded history.

Creating a new world. One that we don't have a past story about, to draw ideas from.

This past summer I attended the Shambala Institute for Authentic Leadership Summer Program in Halifax Nova Scotia. I participated in the 5-day module entitled "Practicing Fearlessness in Times of Fear" co-led by by a team including Margaret Wheatley. During the module, Meg described her personal journey of coming to realize that the systems couldn't be fixed. She spoke of "being hospice workers to the old, while we midwife the new."

I recently attended a Rocket Ship seminar in Minneapolis, led by Malcolm Cohan of Australia http://www.malcolmcohan.com/ . Malcolm has a vision for humanity http://www.malcolmcohan.com/humanity.html that includes people creating online Vision Statement  videos exploring how we can transform the planet into a world that works for everyone.

As the poet Ranier Maria Rilke has said, "You must give birth to your images, they are the future waiting to be born. Fear not the strangeness that you feel. The future must enter you long before it happens."

In 2009, the first meeting of the world's leading Thought Leaders, Transformational Activists, Teachers, Authors, Consultants, Coaches, and Leaders of Transformational Organizations was held. More than 500 personal invitations were sent, calling people to attend this meeting. Attendees came from the following groups and organizations:

This Gathering of individuals, whose personal and professional lives were consciously dedicated to the intentional work of transforming the planet, was convened to consider the question, "How can we work together, in the spirit of Creative Collaboration and Collective Intelligence, to synergistically maximize our mutual efforts to birth the New Earth?"

The situation on the planet was, as all of humanity was becoming aware, increasingly grim. The alarming depletion of natural resources and destruction of the planet's biosphere, combined with the rapidly accelerating global population, formed the foundational basis of concern. Most experts agreed that no workable solution was anywhere in sight. Those in positions of power worldwide, as well as their best advisors, appeared clueless as to what action to take. News headlines continued their coverage of wars, terrorism, and celebrity antics. As the 2008 Presidential Campaign gained momentum in the United States, none of the candidates exhibited any noticeable focus on possible answers to the global crisis.

Researchers in the fields of personal and planetary transformation report that what is happening on earth is the death of an old paradigm, giving birth to a new paradigm. This paradigm is in the realm of consciousness, in the realm of humanity's understanding of its purpose on earth. The leading edge of thought is telling us that the universe is striving to birth a future in which humanity evolves to a higher order of being. In this new paradigm worldview, the global citizenry returns to its roots as an integral part of the natural order. Mankind recognizes its unity both with the natural world, and with one person to another. The evolving consciousness of the universe, most visibly apparent in the cognitive capabilities of humanity, awakens from its sleep of the ages and takes a proactive, collaborative stand in the ongoing planetary evolutionary process.

The old paradigm, with its consciousness of separation, has led to mankind separated from nature and separated from one another. In this paradigm, competition and isolation reign supreme. Nation states, family units, turf wars, and protecting one's piece of a limited pie at all costs are the natural result.

At the 2009 Gathering of Transformational Leaders it was proposed that this group of individuals take on walking the walk and talking the talk of the new paradigm. Given the dire situation of the planet, the lack of leadership in doing something about it, and the complete absence of any body of individuals claiming accountability for handling the global emergency, the proposal was made that a Planetary Transformation Project be declared into existence.

It was further proposed that the Transformational Leaders in attendance take on ownership of this Project. That they form a body, the Council for Planetary Transformation, to be the steering committee of this global project. In the absence of leadership from the level of the formal world political process, this group of committed Thought Leaders and Global Activists were urged to rise to the occasion and take the helm of this ship.

In the spirit of the Founding Fathers declaring their freedom from British tyranny and oppression, this group of Activists did indeed rise and take on the challenge. They stood firm and declared their accountability for the state of the planet. They declared their allegiance to the work ahead, a united effort to right the ship of planet earth and bring in the New Day.

In this initial meeting were sown the seeds of a new global political party that came to take hold in the hearts and minds of the millions of Cultural Creatives worldwide: "We the People of Planet Earth." The mission of this movement became saving the earth, saving the biosphere, reengineering our planetary wide systems, retooling our joint paradigms.

The following ideas were considered at this initial meeting:

• 1. How do we bring the concepts of personal and planetary transformation to the forefront of awareness, in both the Western world and globally?
• 2. How can we create and launch a 24/7 TV network dedicated to transformation?
• 3. How can we create a Transformational Reality Series that within weeks of launch, has an audience larger than American Idol?
• 4. How can we create "viral memes" for transformation, thereby sowing the seeds for cultural paradigm shift?
• 5. How can we create an infrastructure for transformation? A social networking infrastructure, for the Cultural Creatives to gather together? Major communication channels, to regularly speak to and with the Cultural Creatives?
• 6. How do we stimulate and accelerate the momentum of the awakening on this planet? (in 2000 Cultural Creatives were 26% of the population in America and Europe, up from 4% in the 1960's)
• 7. How do we "pop" the awakening process? How do we support those who are awakening?
• 8. What joint initiatives might we create for Planetary Transformation, if we act together as one body for and on behalf of the planet?
• 9. How can we fully utilize the world's best practices, the cutting-edge technologies that have come to the surface and been field tested in organizational management, in executing a global Planetary Transformation Project?
• 10. How can we rally the existing resources of this planet to fund this vast endeavor?
• 11. How can we, through our mutual affiliation, create a Transformational Revenue Generating machine that will generate new wealth in the billions of dollars, to fund this vast endeavor?
• 12. Consider the planetary impact of creating a communication network comprised of the email lists of all the Transformational Organizations of the planet. How can we all come together in one accord, acting with one voice, for and on behalf of the planet?
• 13. How do we all, each and every one of us, get past the "my turf/my agenda" conversation and work together selflessly to birth the New Paradigm that is seeking to emerge?
• 14. How do we rally all of the people of this planet who are concerned for the fate of the earth, to join with us in this Planetary Transformation Project? How do we market, publicize, manage, and follow through on this endeavor?
• 15. How do we coordinate a Planet-Wide effort to Intentionally and Strategically design and manifest a New World?
• 16. How do we form a leadership board? How do we structure this project?
• 17. What is our next step, after this meeting? Where do we go from here?

When Andrew Cohen was asked "Why have you formed a spiritual community?", he answered as follows:

The actual emergence of a new level of consciousness is unlikely to occur outside of a very focused environment. Indeed, whenever an individual or group of individuals has seriously tried to reach a higher stage of development, the odds have always been stacked against them. Success in such a bold, demanding, and infinitely delicate endeavor, if it has any chance at all, will only occur in and through a committed group of mature human beings who are willing to pay the price and make the nothing-less-than-heroic effort necessary.

My own experience has convinced me that the enlightenment of the future is not going to be an individual event, as it has been in the past, but rather will be a collective or what could be called intersubjective emergence. This is really the core of what I'm trying to accomplish-the birth of a new level of consciousness in which the enlightened mind emerges through a collective.

The Institute for Transformational Activism is comprised of a team of people committed to having their life be 24/7 in service of Transformational Activism. We together Call to the people in the world who will respond to this same Calling. We Call them out, they join our team, and we grow synergistically.

The ITA is committed to creating a system of EcoVillages on the planet, where people dedicated to personal and planetary transformation can live and work together.

We live together in EcoVillages located in major metropolitan areas around the planet. Established near each EcoVillage is a branch of our Business Incubator Pod.  This complex is comprised of a number of businesses that are operated and staffed in whole or in part by the students and members of the Institute. The Business Pods serve as the venue for our members to master the skills of entrepreneurship and business development, and to engage together generating resources to fund Planetary Transformational.

We are together 24/7 - living together, working together, transforming the planet together. The EcoVillages are amazing community centers. We have separate living quarters, and large shared community spaces for gatherings, social events, transformational work together, exercise, play, study, child care. We share the labor of meal preparation, and eat healthy foods communally.

Our communities consist of individuals with a broad range of skill sets. We share our skills and knowledge together, to enhance all of our lives. We have group exercise, meditation, classes in a variety of topics.

We schedule regular "brainstorming" or "mindstorming" events where we gather to dream the dream of the New World being birthed on earth. We see ourselves as the Architects of the New Day, who have devoted our lives to receiving the visions of the New Earth. Our work and mission is to communicate the vision to the Cultural Creatives of the planet, generating and stimulating conversations in the world to bring the visions to fruition.

Our EcoVillages are staffed with people who have amazing skills in web design, video production, internet technology, communications across the various media. As we channel the visions of the New Day and the means to achieve it, those among us who are skilled in these media technologies create Online Vision Statements, Podcasts, E-Books, Internet Broadcasts and get these seeded out into the planet instantaneously.

We are dedicated to ever-deepening our individual and collective capacity to utilize our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual vehicles to Bring In The New Day. The Activists in the EcoVillages each pursue whatever discipline, training, study specifically calls to them to hone their "instruments" for this purpose.

Together we master the fine art and science of visualization, or what is known by Olympic Athletes as "Mental Rehearsal". We create visual and auditory scripts of what is the outcome we are manifesting, and then go into deep meditation to experience the outcome internally, in minute detail. As this technique causes physical athletes to win medals and tournaments, it causes Transformational Athletes to win the Olympics of Manifestation!

We utilize these techniques for the transformation of everything in the world that doesn't produce "a world that works for everyone". We schedule Gatherings of Activists and Experts in the various fields of endeavor in the world, to brainstorm problems and channel solutions. These events are based on the model of the Mind and Life Conference dialogues held between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Western scientists beginning in 1987. After each Gathering, we create Vision Statements, Podcasts, E-Books, Internet Broadcasts to transmit the results (the "Harvest") of the events. Plus, we facilitate specific action in the world, to create real-world transformational results.

It is 2023. ITA is orchestrating a 15-year anniversary celebration of the founding of the Institute. Over 50,000 graduates of the Institute's residential program are playing key roles on the global scene. ITA is the premier training ground for social entrepreneurs, change agents, thought leaders and global activists at this key point in history.

As the cultural and structural paradigms of the world have altered over the initial decades of the 21^st century, ITA has been key in this transition. Its strategic offshoots, the Council for Planetary Transformation and the Cause Your Life Transformational Centers, form the infrastructure of the planetary transformation project that has unfolded over the past 15 years.

ITA VISION AND MISSION

ITA is known for having facilitated the creative collaboration of the world's pivotal transformational organizations and leaders, in forming the Council for Planetary Transformation (CPT). I believe that human evolution is at a stage where we each have the astonishing opportunity to transform ourselves into an entirely "new creature." In important ways, this new creature is as great an evolutionary leap as was the emergence on the planetary scene of Homo sapiens.

Visionary and futurist Barbara Marx Hubbard coined the term Homo universalis for this new evolutionary creature. As she describes in her book Emergence: The Shift from Ego to Essence, "...the Universal Human is connected through the heart to the whole of life, evolving consciously and helping to cocreate a new world."

Future-Based Vision Story:
Under the direction of the Institute for Transformational Activism and the Council for Planetary Transformation, 50 "Cause Your Life Transformational Centers" were opened simultaneously in major metropolitan U.S. cities in 2010. Accompanied by a nationwide marketing campaign, these Centers were an instantaneous hit with the American public. They quickly rivaled Starbucks as popular social gathering spots.

The CYL Centers were marketed from the start as affiliated with the popular DVD and book "The Secret." In partnership with PrimeTime Productions, the CYL Centers are official affiliates of this popular transformational teaching modality. The famous "Secret" logo, the "S" embossed red wax seal, adorns each CYL Center's entranceway.

The CYL Centers marketing campaign was aimed at capturing the attention of the "Cultural Creatives." This campaign catapulted the phrase "Cultural Creatives" into the popular vernacular. Paul Ray, author of the 2000 book of the same name, coined the term to connotate the then-26% of the U.S. population segment identified in statistical surveys as caring deeply for the earth and sharing those concerns loosely grouped under the "transformational" umbrella. Paul states that the launch of the CYL Transformational Centers has had the greatest impact he could have imagined, in bringing the existence of this segment of the population to the forefront of attention.

The students and staff of the Institute for Transformational Activism coordinated and managed the corporate launch. The CYL Centers are being developed under the auspices of the ITA, as one of the key Business Incubator Pods of the Institute. Students of the Institute throughout the United States are "cutting their business teeth" through this transformational entrepreneurial endeavor.

The Centers serve as the home base for the Institute for Transformational Activism. ITA staff work in the Centers, and operate the Institute from their offices housed in the Centers. Institute students take courses in the Centers, and work as staff in these Business Incubator Pods.

The CYL Centers are a "family" of businesses. Each Center is comprised of a natural foods restaurant and cafe; transformational/personal growth and development bookstore; boutique selling a full range of "Cause Your Life" branded clothing, jewelry, and other products; adult education school offering a wide range of personal growth and development courses, both live and web-based; and a community center hosting social and transformational events.   

My ideal working situation is to be in collaboration with deeply committed and passionate Transformational Activists. We would all working together on mutual projects to change the world, to bring Transformation "to the fore front" of human consciousness, creating "structures for existence" to bring Transformation into the mainstream. For all of us, our "avocation" has become our "vocation."

My time would be divided between communication with the team, and private time alone. I like to work in a quiet environment when alone. I like a space with no distractions. A space that has a retreat environment, a quiet room backed up to a nature preserve so that I can freely choose to meditate and work in peace and quiet.

Definitely, the core people in my life. I've been married for almost 20 years to the most amazing man the Universe could have blessed me with, and we together have the greatest gift in our 15-year old daughter. Living with these two beautiful people is the highlight of my life. Plus, I have some of the most incredible transformational people to call my dear friends. Whenever I give gratitude, this is the first thing on my list!

I need to call my nephew David. He's someone that I have very little contact with, and every time I think of him, which is quite often, I feel sad about being out of communication with him.

Like so many people, I have "family of origin" issues. David is a fallout of my family of origin. My brother, who is David's father, is out of communication with nearly all members of our family, including David and his son.

Our family is very small, there are few of us. And among that small number of people, there is little direct communication.

David is 25 years old, I'm 53. My story is that David never thinks about me, I'm not on his radar screen, he feels no connection with me. My story is, it feels awkward for me to call him.

I want to make a difference in his life. I'm his aunt, I've been there since his birth. While we may not have had much contact in many years, I always hold him in my heart. I care about him. I would like to be in closer relationship to him.

I am taking on calling David, today.
